Breaking News- For Class 12 Boards, CBSE Proposes Short Duration Exams, Dates Not Fixed CBSE 12th Board Exam 2021

Under the first option, tests can be performed for a period of three months - one month of pre-test activities and two months of testing and announcement of results.

New Delhi: The center is likely to approve a temporary test - 90 minutes instead of 3 hours - Class 12 board and state board exams will be allowed to decide on the matter, sources said after a ministerial meeting a meeting this afternoon, led by Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. The meeting was held in protest of tests from many provinces, which highlighted the health risks of teachers and students.

Following the meeting, the Department of Education said the provinces had been asked to submit their responses on May 25 and the Institute would "review the proposals received from the various Governments this week and pass on further details to students on or before 1 June 2021".

During the presentation at the meeting, the Central Board of Higher Education proposed two methods and a "flexible method" for the tests, which were postponed due to the second wave of Covid infection.

Under the first option, the tests can be done in as little as three months - one month of pre-test activities and two months of testing and announcement of results. Another 30 days will be allowed for room testing. Tests will be held for major subjects only and marks for minor subjects will be awarded for the performance of major subjects.

August may be the month most likely to hold the tests, and the entire process is likely to continue until the end of September, the board said.

The tests will be three hours long and will be held at designated centers.

Under the second option, 90-minute tests - instead of the standard three-hour version - will be held in 19 major courses. Students must appear in one language with only three elective subjects. Depending on their performance in these studies, the fifth and sixth results will be evaluated, as it may be. Tests will be held at designated and limited testing centers.

Students can write their own exams in their schools. "As the questionnaires will be sent electronically to institutions, these tests do not require much detail and can be submitted and done in a flexible and responsive manner," CBSE said of their proposals.

The second option suggests that the tests be held twice by the board. Wherever conditions permit, tests can be started from the appropriate date.

In the remaining areas the tests will begin after two weeks of the first phase.

In the event that a student is unable to write the test due to any Covid-related problem, he or she will be given another opportunity to write the test.

The first phase exams could begin on July 15 and the second phase in the first week of August, the board said. Results can be announced on 5 September.

“There is flexibility in this approach as the test will be done in two phases, it will be in our schools and will take a short time,” the board said.

Last year, board exams were disrupted in the middle due to epidemics and closures and the remaining exams had to be postponed. But those tests could also be missed and the results were announced on the basis of a test program.

During this time, the Class X Board examinations were suspended and internal audits were recommended by CBSE.

Of the 14,30,247 students who enrolled for the Class 12 exams, board exams were scheduled between May 4 and June 14, instead of the mid-February standard. But the tests were postponed during the Covid crisis. Even now, ministers in some provinces are opposed to the trials.

The Delhi government wanted the exams to be canceled out of fear that the test centers would become too widespread. It demanded the integration of student performance in accordance with the Class 10 model.
