Ramayan's senior actor Arvind Trivedi aka 'Ravan' passes away at 82

Jammu: After Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah fame Ghanshyam Nayak's sudden death, the industry has lost another gem. Senior actor Arvind Trivedi, who played the character of ‘Ravan’ in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan passed away in Mumbai on Tuesday night. According to reports in the media, the veteran actor was not keeping well for quite some time and passed away after suffering a heart attack and multiple organ failure. His last rites will happen in Mumbai on Wednesday morning. He was 82 year old.

Arvind Trivedi, who is best remembered for his role as Ravan has worked in many popular Gujarati films. His career lasted in Gujarati cinema for 40 years. Not only in Ramayan, the prolific actor has featured in Vikram Aur Betaal.

He also acted in close to 300 films including Hindi and Gujarati. The late actor had acted in several social and mythological films as well. Apart from having a successful career in Indian cinema, Arvind Trivedi was also a Member of Parliament from 1991 to 1996. He was selected from Sabarkatha constituency.

The well-known actor is also the acting chairman of the Censor Board for Film Certification (CBFC) following the resignation of filmmaker Vijay Anand from the post.
Last year during the lockdown, the cult TV show Ramayan was aired and it was loved by the Indian audience. All the actors from the show came back to the limelight after Doordarshan started the re-run of the mythological show and many of them joined Twitter. The senior actor also made his debut on the microblogging site after his former 'Ramayan' co-stars Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhila made their Twitter accounts.
