CM Omar Abdullah Presents J&K Budget 2025: Key Highlights and Announcements




The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, presented the much-anticipated budget for the fiscal year 2025 in the J&K Assembly. This budget focuses on infrastructure development, social welfare, education, and public services to ensure overall progress and economic growth in the region.

Key Highlights of the Jammu & Kashmir Budget 2025:

1. Media & Journalism Support

  • The government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring press freedom and supporting journalists.

  • Press Clubs in Jammu and Kashmir will be provided with enhanced facilities to promote independent journalism.

2. Infrastructure Development

  • Six new helipads will be constructed across Jammu and Kashmir to improve helicopter services for residents and tourists.

  • A budget of ₹10 crore has been allocated for this initiative to enhance connectivity in remote areas.

  • 7,886 kilometers of road have been constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), with more expansions planned by 2025.

3. Education Sector Boost

  • A National Law University (NLU) will be developed in Jammu and Kashmir.

  • The government has allocated ₹50 crore for the establishment of the NLU, ensuring better legal education opportunities in the region.

4. Social Welfare Schemes

  • The financial assistance under the Marriage Assistance Scheme has been increased from ₹50,000 to ₹75,000 to support economically weaker families.

  • 200 units of free electricity will be provided to Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) beneficiaries, offering relief to low-income households.

  • Women in Jammu and Kashmir will be eligible for free bus rides in government buses and e-buses starting from April 1, promoting gender-inclusive transportation facilities.
