Jammu Kashmir - With the newly announced Rs 28,400 crore Development Development Scheme, the governments of Jammu and Kashmir aim to create jobs for more than 5 lakh youth in the coming years.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, speaking at a day-long "Education to Entrepreneurship" conference at SKICC, said the government in consultation with all stakeholders had established a state-of-the-art industrial plan compared to other regions of the country. "An unprecedented industrial development plan of Rs 28,400 will attract a massive investment of 20,000 to 25,000 crore, without providing the youth with lakh lakh opportunities.


It is worth noting that J&K saw a drop in the unemployment rate from 16.1 percent in September 2020 to 9 percent in March 2021. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha commended the youth for this positive change.


Commenting on the CMIE report, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said J&K had a lower unemployment rate than Delhi, Goa, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand and Rajasthan. He said the unemployment rate at J&K dropped to 9% from 16.1% in September 2020 and gave people credit, especially J&K youth.

The conference was organized by Mission Youth J&K in partnership with the Taleem-O-Tarbiyat program to promote economic development and promote sustainable livelihoods in Jammu & Kashmir, with an emphasis on education, character development, entrepreneurship and skills development.

 

According to figures from the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), J&K had 14.2 percent unemployment rates as of February 2021, which was among the four worst union / union areas in India. In March, the rate dropped to single digits.


Unemployment rate is generated by CMIE using its Consumer Pyramids Household Survey equipment. CMIE raised the Indian unemployment rate by 6.9 percent.
