LG Meets protesting NHM nurses in Jammu, announces service extension by 3 months on spot
  
Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Sunday announced extension of services of NHM nurses by three months.

LG met the terminated health workers in Jammu and announced the extension of service of NHM nurses, who were on protest, by three months.
 


Later addressing media, LG said that the Centre has decided to extend the services of terminated health workers of J&K for three months and in coming days, employment opportunities for health workers of UT will also be advertised. LG Sinha also assured the health workers engaged on contract  that new position of para medical staff will be identified and advertised soon. Our Corona Warriors will be given weightage in the recruitment.
 


Appreciating the health workers, LG said that during COVID-19 pandemic, these health workers have been working tirelessly and have helped administration to tackle this pandemic.

"The Centre will give weightage to the efforts of Corona warriors so that in future also they will work for the welfare of the people," he said.
 


Meanwhile, one of the protesting health workers said that they talked to LG, and he has assured them that their contract will be extended for three months.

"LG has also announced about giving us permanent jobs in health sector. We are very thankful to him for fulfilling our demands," she said. 
 


Meanwhile, Principal GMC Jammu, Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma while talking to media said that they welcome this decision of the Central government as the health workers have been working 24 hours during the pandemic.

"The decision to give them permanent employment based on the merit will prove beneficial for the future of health workers and paramedical students," she said.
 


Notably, NHM nurses who were engaged during COVID-19 pandemic were dismissed from their services by the health department. The NHM nurses and workers have been protesting for the past many days, seeking continuation of their services.
