Who Scored Most Runs In 2021? List Of Top-Scoring Batsmen In Tests, Odis, T20 This Year




Joe Root (in Tests), Paul Stirling (in ODIs) and Mohammad Rizwan (in T20Is) were the top-scoring players in the year 2021. Combining all formats, Rizwan topped the charts, with Root and Babar Azam next.



Team India’s maiden Test triumph in Centurion against South Africa wraps up the cricketing calendar for the year 2021. A number of significant milestones were achieved this year despite it being another Covid-hit cricketing campaign. As the year draws to its conclusion, we take a look at the top-scoring batsmen of the year in all three formats respectively.



When it comes to Test cricket, Joe Root leads the list having scored a whopping 1,708 runs this year at an average of 61. He is followed by India’s Rohit Sharma who has aggregated 906 runs in 2021 at 47.68. Sri Lanka’s Dimuth Karunaratne slots third in the list with a total of 902 runs, averaging 69.38.

There weren’t many ODI encounters this year, with T20 cricket being in the spotlight due to the fact that the T20 World Cup was scheduled to be held. Hence, a few interesting names take the top places when it comes to the players with the most runs in the 50-over format this year.



Ireland’s Paul Stirling tops the list with 705 runs at an average of 54.23. South Africa’s Janneman Malan, who scored 509 runs at an average of 84.83, comes in second. Bangladesh’s opening batsman Tamim Iqbal takes the third spot with 464 runs with an average of 38.66.

A year that was filled with T20I cricket across 12 months saw plenty of breathtaking action, especially during the T20 World Cup in UAE. Not surprisingly, the Pakistan duo of Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam top the list of highest run-scorers in the format this year with 1326 and 939 runs to their name in the format. They struck at a strike-rate of 135 and 128 respectively.



New Zealand opening batsman Martin Guptill comes in next with 678 runs this year. He had an impressive strike-rate of 145 this year.

As far as the tally of most runs in international cricket (combining all formats) is concerned, Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan tops the list. He scored a total of 1915 runs at an average of 56.32. England’s Joe Root comes in next with 1855 runs at 66.25 while another Pakistani, Babar Azam, is third with 1760 runs at 40.93.
