Indian Railway Management Service IRMS Exam Pattern and Syllabus 2022: The Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS), Ministry of Railways will conduct IRMS Exam for recruitment of candidates of Grade A Posts under 8 railway services including Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE), Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers, Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE), Indian Railway Stores Service (IRSS), Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE), Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS) and Indian Railway Accounts Services (IRAS). A total of 5166 vacancies are available for the post of Principal Chief Manager, Chief Manager, , Deputy Chief Manager, Senior Manager or Divisional Manager, and Assistant Manager in the Railway department.

Out of the total, 150 vacancies shall be recruited in the grade of Junior Time Scale through UPSC Civil Service Exam 2022 or UPSC CSE 2022. Others vacancies in the Junior Time Scale shall be filled by promotion through selection.

IRMS Prelims Exam Pattern

• There will be 240 MCQs divided into two papers
• The mode of the exam will be offline
• For each wrong answer, 1/4 mark shall be deducted.

IRMS Mains Exam Pattern

• Those who qualify in the prelims will be called for the mains exam.
• There will be 2 papers from the Engineering discipline i.e. Civil Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Electrical/ Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.
• There will be no negative marking in this IRMS Mains exam.
• The candidates need to attend 5 questions out of 8 optional questions
