DC Reasi Inaugurates National Immunization Day, Administers Polio Drops to Children
Reasi, December 21: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik, today formally inaugurated National Immunization Day (NID) at District Hospital Reasi by administering Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) drops to children in the age group of 0 to 5 years.
The initiative reaffirms the district administration’s steadfast commitment to child health and disease prevention.Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner informed that a total of 384 immunization booths have been established across the four blocks of the district. She further stated that comprehensive pre-campaign surveys were conducted to identify all eligible children and ensure effective and inclusive coverage.“The immunization booths will remain operational for children to receive their polio drops, and over the next two days, dedicated teams will go door-to-door to ensure that no child is left behind,” she said.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the nationwide polio immunization campaign aims to eradicate the disease at its roots. She noted with satisfaction that India has remained polio-free for several years and stressed that the continued participation of parents and caregivers is crucial to sustaining this achievement. “By ensuring the timely administration of these two life-saving drops to every child, we can collectively ensure a healthy and polio-free future,” she added.The event was attended by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Kohli, the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, the Medical Superintendent, Block Medical Officers, and other senior officers and staff of the Health Department.
