The Jammu & Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has released Advertisement Notification No. 02 of 2026 dated 27 March 2026 for filling up 76 posts of Draftsman (Civil) in the Jal Shakti Department of the Government of Jammu & Kashmir under direct recruitment. The posts are divided across two divisional cadres – Jammu (33 posts) and Kashmir (43 posts). Domicile Requirement

Candidates must be Domicile(s) of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and must possess a valid Domicile Certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the prescribed format on or before the cut-off date i.e. 14 May 2026.

Selection for the post of Draftsman (Civil) will be made purely on the basis of merit obtained in the Written / OMR Examination only.

Important: There is negative marking of ¼ mark for every wrong answer. Candidates are advised to attempt questions carefully.

Stages of Selection

  • Stage 1: Written / OMR Based Examination (Objective Type MCQ)
  • Stage 2: Document Verification (DV) for shortlisted candidates

Final selection will be based on the merit list prepared from the written exam marks. There is no interview for this post.

Reservation Details

  • Reservation is applicable as per the category-wise break-up conveyed by the Indenting Department and J&K Reservation Act/Rules.
  • Candidates must possess a valid Category Certificate on or before the cut-off date (14 May 2026) and upload it at the time of applying.
  • Horizontal Reservation for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) is applicable as per extant rules for posts carrying pay up to Level-6E.
  • An ESM candidate who has already availed Horizontal Reservation benefit once cannot avail it again for subsequent employment (as per S.O. 361 of 2021).
  • Reservation certificates must be in the prescribed format as per the relevant J&K Act/SRO. Certificates in other formats will not be entertained.

How to Apply for JKSSB Draftsman Recruitment 2026?

  1. Visit the official website: jkssb.nic.in
  2. Click on the link for Advertisement Notification No. 02 of 2026.
  3. Register and fill the online application form carefully with correct personal, educational and category details.
  4. Upload required documents:
    • Live Photograph (as per prescribed size)
    • Signature (10 KB to 20 KB)
    • Category Certificate (Max. 100 KB, PDF format) – if applicable
    • Qualification / Experience Certificates – self-attested (Max. 100 KB, PDF format)
  5. Pay the application fee online (Net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card).
  6. Submit the application and take a printout of the filled form for future reference.


 Important: Only ONE online application per Item Number is allowed. If multiple applications are detected, only the latest one will be considered. Applications by post, email or any offline mode will NOT be accepted. Once submitted, no changes to the application form will be entertained.

Key Conditions to Note

  • Candidates must be J&K Domicile holders with a valid certificate issued on or before 14 May 2026.
  • Name, Date of Birth, Father’s Name and Mother’s Name must be filled exactly as in the Matriculation Certificate.
  • Candidature is provisional until documents are verified by the Appointing Authority.
  • Candidates must carry 2 recent passport-size photographs (not older than 6 months) and a valid Photo ID (Aadhaar/Voter ID/PAN/Driving Licence/Passport) to the examination hall.
  • Ration Card and Learner’s Driving Licence are NOT valid as identity proof.
  • Mobile phones, smartwatches, AI-enabled devices, Bluetooth devices and any electronic communication equipment are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall.
  • In-service candidates must submit their application printout through proper channel (Head of Department) before the last date of Document Verification.
  • No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the written test or document verification.
  • Canvassing in any form will result in disqualification.

Facility for PwBD Candidates (Scribe & Compensatory Time)

  • PwBD candidates with a valid disability certificate may avail the facility of a Scribe and/or compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of examination.
  • Candidates must arrange their own scribe. The scribe must not be a candidate for the same examination, nor a relative, nor a student from the same institution.
  • The scribe’s qualification must be lower than the minimum qualification prescribed for the post.
  • PwBD candidates opting for a scribe must reach the examination centre at least one hour in advance.
  • Required documents: Disability Certificate, Certificate regarding Physical Limitation (Annexure-B), Letter of Undertaking for using own Scribe (Annexure-C), Scribe’s qualification certificate and Photo ID.
